GPs and their wider team need time to give patients the best care they possibly can. You can help free up time for those who really need expert advice by considering three alternatives before booking an appointment. Find out more

Bogus callers

The Practice has been informed by the Health & Social Care Board that some patients have been contacted by 'bogus callers' claiming to be linked to the Practice in order to sell products or extract financial information including bank details.  Some bogus callers have asked questions about medical conditions and current medication.

If you receive a call of this nature, DO NOT disclose any personal information and contact the surgery immediately.

Air Aware

The Department of Environment provides a SMS service called 'Air Aware'.  The service notifies subscribers when air pollution levels are currently or forecast to be high or very high.

During periods of high air pollution, the symptoms of people with respiratory conditions or heart disease may worsen.  Healthy people are unlikely to experience any ill effects.  The frequency of these episodes is largely dependent upon the weather.  They usually occur in winter when there are cold calm conditions and there is build up of emissions from transport and burning of fuel.

The SMS Service allows those individuals who could benefit most from air pollution alerts to sign up to receive an alert by text message to their mobile phone.
