Bogus callers

The Practice has been informed by the Health & Social Care Board that some patients have been contacted by 'bogus callers' claiming to be linked to the Practice in order to sell products or extract financial information including bank details.  Some bogus callers have asked questions about medical conditions and current medication.

If you receive a call of this nature, DO NOT disclose any personal information and contact the surgery immediately.

Message to Patients

Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding when phoning the Practice. We realise that sometimes the phone lines can be busy and that it can take a while or several calls to get through. The number of calls which we receive and deal with each day has increased significantly as we emerge from Covid.

Our team of receptionists are working very hard and we are all doing our best to deal with your concerns.

Our receptionists are trained to ask you about the nature of your problem when you phone – this is to allow us to identify the most urgent, perhaps life-threatening so that these can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

We are installing a new phone system soon which will help resolve some telephone difficulties. In the meantime, please continue to work with us and thank you again for your patience.

We would like to remind everyone that we have a zero tolerance policy regarding any threatening or abusive behaviour towards our staff.

Practice Closures

Please note that due to significant staff shortages we will be closed until further notice as follows:

  • 1-6pm on Wednesday afternoon
  • The phone line in Reception will be closed between 1.00pm and 2.00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The phone line to Reception will reopen at 2.00pm.

Coronavirus Vaccine Update

The Covid-19 spring booster vaccine is now available and is being rolled out for patients aged 75 and over.  Patients in this eligible group will be invited by letter for the vaccination.

The venue for the Covid-19 vaccinations is Lisburn Free Presbyterian Church Hall, 1 Windermere Road, Lisburn BT28 12GY.

GP Services

During the Covid-19 pandemic we continue to provide general medical services.  However, we cannot offer advanced booking for routine appointments.  All face-to-face appointments are booked after telephone triage with a GP.

We provide a daily telephone triage service with routine calls logged from 8.30am with a limited number of available slots each day.  Urgent calls will be allocated to the doctor on call that day and not a specific GP.

The GPs have directed Reception staff to ask all patients for an overview of their medical problem to help determine the best course of action to help them.  This may be a telephone call from our Practice Pharmacist or Practice Nurse.  

We are constantly updating and streamlining our systems in response to a rapidly evolving situation.  We can forward sick lines to your mobile phone and arrange video consultations where necessary. 

Patients attending surgery

To ensure the safety of our patients, staff and GPs, you should NOT visit the surgery unless you have been told to by a member of Reception, a nurse of a GP.

If you are asked to attend the surgery, please arrive at your exact appointment time and not earlier for your own safety and that of others as we are trying to limit the number of patients in our waiting area at any one time.

If you are attending an appointment with the Practice Nurse, please wear clothing that will enable quick access to your arm so that she can conduct your vaccination, bloods or BP check quickly and efficiently.

Coronavirus - Face Coverings

face coveringSince 10 August 2020 the use of face coverings in certain indoor settings, such as shops or shopping centres, has been mandatory.

We ask that you wear a face mask or covering for your appointment with a GP, the Practice Nurse or the Treatment Room.

Information on NI Direct states that  'There is no need to get a letter from a doctor or government to show that you do not need to wear a face covering. If you have a condition which means you cannot wear a face covering you only need to say, if asked, that you cannot wear a face covering because you are exempt'.

 Repeat Prescriptions

Please do not collect prescriptions at Reception. During the current Coronavirus pandemic, all prescriptions should go to a nominated chemist. 

If you need a repeat prescription, please use our 24 hour repeat prescribing line (028 9260 4341) and ensure you provide the name of your preferred chemist along with your name, date of birth, telephone number and medication you wish to order.

Disabled Access

The Health Centre is located opposite a large public car park which operates and pay and display system.  Car parking spaces for those registered disabled are available on this site. 

There are a limited number of disabled car parking spaces available on the health centre site and the building itself has been adapted to accommodate disabled patients.
